Robbins-Gioia Financial Services Group, LLC, and Exervio Management Consulting Announce Strategic Partnership for Unique Offering for Banking Community
Charlotte, N.C., July 13, 2010.—Robbins-Gioia Financial Services Group (FSG), LLC, the financial services consulting group of Robbins-Gioia, Inc. of Alexandria, Va., and Exervio Management Consulting of Charlotte, N.C., announced today a strategic partnership aligning the unique strengths of both to more effectively compete within their Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern consulting marketplaces. Earlier this year, Robbins-Gioia established its national financial services consulting headquarters in Charlotte, focusing on bringing experienced bankers as consultants to client initiatives, thereby addressing a trend of recent industry-wide displacements.
Robbins-Gioia FSG delivers strategic management consulting solutions to its banking clients through deploying experienced bankers and financial industry expertise to maximize a client’s speed to delivery and return on project investment. Exervio Management Consulting, with headquarters in Charlotte and offices in Atlanta and Dallas, delivers value to local clients by deploying small, highly focused teams to define business strategies, improve operational effectiveness, and execute mission-critical projects.
Under the agreement, Robbins-Gioia FSG and Exervio will go to market with their banking clients under a fully disclosed combined relationship; clients will have access to and benefit from both firms’ combined consulting resources, research, solutions, case studies, and solution partners. This transparent approach provides clients fast, seamless access to “best-practice” consulting services. Both companies retain the rights to pursue their independent identities and client interests separately as agreed upon.
The decision to align the two consulting firms highlights the competitive advantages of smaller, localized firms partnering to compete with geographically remote “Big Four” global firm resources as well as the more costly “board room” strategic advisors. “We took a long and informed look at the challenges faced by our financial services clients in these economic times,” said Robert Piontek, Executive Vice President, Robbins-Gioia’s Financial Services Group. “Our analysis confirmed that the partnership of our two smaller consulting firms would provide a more nimble, efficient, and reliable solution delivery model to respond to our clients’ requirements—and at significantly less cost.”
“Our partnership enables us to be more responsive to the diversity and scale of our clients’ needs, as well as bringing greater value and accountability,” Piontek added. “We think this partnership is an example of the next generation for small business success.”
“The opportunity to combine the respective strengths of our companies while maintaining the unique identities of each made this a compelling decision,” said Jon Nance, President, Exervio Management Consulting. “In addition to the business value our partnership can bring to our clients, we share with Robbins-Gioia a deep commitment to our local communities, including service members and their families. The shared values of our organizations make Robbins-Gioia exactly the type of company we value as a partner.”

Robbins-Gioia, Inc., Announces Charlotte, North Carolina, as Headquarters for New Financial Services Business Model
March 3, 2010, Alexandria, VA—Robbins-Gioia, Inc. (R-G), a leading provider of management consulting services, announced today that its financial services consulting group will make its headquarters in Charlotte, N.C. Previously, R-G supported the banking sector throughout its various locations nationwide. The company plans to support its new and existing client relationships in the banking and financial services sectors from its 201 South Tryon Street offices.
The decision to centralize in Charlotte enables R-G to implement a strategic decision to grow its financial services consulting expertise with experienced banking professionals from the mid-Atlantic and Southeast banking community who have been displaced by the economic downturn.“We look forward to being a growing part of, and a contributor to, Charlotte’s vibrant civic and business community,” said John Marselle, Robbins-Gioia CEO.
Robbins-Gioia also announced that Robert D. Piontek, executive vice president of R-G’s Financial Services Group, will lead the Charlotte-based practice. Piontek has spent 30 years in Charlotte with two of the city’s premier financial services firms: the Wachovia Corporation (formerly First Union) where he was senior vice president and managing director/treasurer of the bank’s corporate investment bank; and KPMG/BearingPoint Consulting, where he was partner and managing director in the financial services consulting group. “We are delighted to have someone of Bob’s stature in the banking community leading our financial services group in Charlotte,” said Woody Mewborn, president of Robbins-Gioia’s Commercial Group. “His extensive knowledge of the industry he serves combined with his dedication to his clients and the community in Charlotte make him ideally suited for our consulting organization.”
“This is a perfect time to rethink the traditional consulting model in banking, where the success of our banks is so crucial to the success of the communities they serve,” said Piontek. “Our fresh approach to consulting—targeting regionally based banking professionals to specific challenges facing banks in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic—will deliver an immediate and cost-effective impact to their initiatives. It is especially meaningful to be able to be asked to spearhead an approach to consulting that can have such far-reaching civic and business value from a town that’s been home to my career and my family for the past 30 years.”
